Donald B. Eicholtz, 79, beloved husband, father and grandfather died December 31st, 2010, after a brief illness at Hamot Medical Center. He was born October 9th, 1931, to the late Edward and Edna Eicholtz of Butler, Pennsylvania.
He attended Butler High School and served in the US Navy. Donald graduated from Slippery Rock State College and Westminster College and dedicated his life to education. He was a former McKean Elementary School principal for 23 years. A long-time resident of Edinboro, Don was an avid golfer and enjoyed sharing that pastime with his wife and children and grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Dona Sue, and brother, Eugene Eicholtz.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Jane, daughter Mary Eicholtz of Reading, PA, son David (Nora) Eicholtz of La Plata, MD, daughter Judy (Wayne) Petersen of Hollis, NH, daughter Joyce (Ted) Warnock of Sammamish, WA, son John (Barbara Hall) Eicholtz of Salt Lake City, UT, and daughter Trish (Jim) Staszewski of Erie, and had six grandchildren whom he cherished. He is survived by his brother Edward Eicholtz of Linfield, PA.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Bill Sutherland.
