Dean Ronald Shepherd, 42, of Edinboro, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Erie on June 29, 1970, the son of Ronald R. Shepherd of NY and Gail Flynn Stickner and her husband Jim of Edinboro.
After graduating from General McLane High School in 1988, Dean attended DeVry University and completed technician and computer certification courses. He worked as an IT Specialist for CompuCom, subcontracting for GE in Erie.
Dean loved to share his knowledge and skills in the areas he was most passionate. He shared his love for photography and videography with his wife and their online photography studio: Jenn's Photographs, and with the GM Band Boosters and the GM Swimming and Diving Team. He would frequently swap gardening tips and computer support advice with friends, family and neighbors. He would use his skills in crafting stain glass lamps, and his wit to make people laugh, even while volunteering in a high school concession stand. His love of his Irish heritage seeped over into the naming of his children. His love of nature, and especially toads and plants, kept him outdoors enjoying frequent walks with his children and sledding in the winter. He was at his best when he had a challenge, and he was at his happiest when he was filming or photoing anything his family and children were involved.
He was a member of the First Spiritualist Church of Erie and used his membership to broaden his faith and nourish his spirit.
He was preceded in death by his maternal Grandparents, Marie and Clare Flynn and his paternal Grandparents, Ann and Robert Shepherd.
Other than his parents, survivors include is loving wife of 7 years, Jennifer Seeman Shepherd; four sons, Michael Koester, Lloyd Koester, Galen Shepherd and Cian Shepherd all at home; two sisters, Shelly Forbes and her husband Dan, of Saegertown, and Carrie Powell and her husband, Jason, of Edinboro; also, his wife's parents, Don and Janet Seeman of Edinboro, and many other friends and family who all send him love and wish him well on his new journey and life in Spirit.
