David Michael William Flint, 49, of Edinboro, died Thursday, February 2, 2012. He was born in Erie on January 15, 1963, son of the late Raymond William Flint and Johanna Hannelore Mathilde Alsbach (Honey) Flint.
Words can not express the deepness of the loss of this man.
David graduated from McDowell High School in 1980 being a very active member of the ROTC being recruited two years before graduation. After graduation, he joined the US Navy where he served in the Gulf War, the Mediterranean and in Granada becoming a very decorated war veteran.
His Fire Fighter career began before he joined the Navy. David was a Jr. Fire Fighter for the Perry Highway Hose Co. After retiring from the military and returning to the area, David joined the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department in 2002, where he was active in every capacity. Four years later he was elected Chief of the Department and has been leading them ever since.
David was a mechanic of heavy machinery and loved his work. He was self employed at Flint Equipment Servicing
Survivors include his Assistant Chief and life partner, Sharon Petri, and her three children, Corrine, Brody and Tyler; and his ex wife, Gina Flint.
The Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Friends may call at the McLane Church, 12511 Edinboro Road, Edinboro, on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Fire Fighter Prayer Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night. A funeral service will be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be private in Francis Cemetery. David will have full Fire Fighter and Military Honors. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the David M. Flint Memorial Fund, c/o Franklin Twp. Vol. Fire Dept., 7455 New RD, Edinboro, PA 16412.
