David Messmer

December 8, 1949 — January 3, 2011

David C. Messmer, 61, of McKean, died Monday, January 3, 2010 at Fairview Manor.  He was born in Erie, on December 8, 1949.  Son of Edwin F. Messmer and the late Coletta Vitron Messmer.
David was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #56 for over 20 years.  He worked as an electrician at M.G. Electric for over 20 years.  He owned his own company, Custom Wiring Service for 12 years until his retirement.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
David enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, but especially playing cards and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his beloved wife Elizabeth “Betti” Hiner Messmer, of McKean; his son David Jeffrey Messmer of McKean; daughter Kristina Aneckstein and her husband David of State College, PA; his brother Edwin G. Messmer and his wife Linda, of GA; five sisters, Patricia Rafferty and her husband Patrick or Erie; Mary Schutte and her husband Edward of FL; Debra Patterson and her husband Steve, of Erie; Michelle Brown and her husband Leldon of TX; and Dianne Shriver and her husband Don of Erie;  four grandchildren, Katy and Gabe Messmer and Zachary and Aaron Aneckstein; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and aunt and uncles.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  A service will be held Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with Father William Sutherland officiating.   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 West 8th Street, Suite 216, Erie, PA 16501.
