Clair Lee Sheldrake, 70 of Erie, died at home from an abdominal aortic aneurysm on June 10, 2022. He was born in New Brighton, PA on July 28, 1951. He married Melanie Dawn Conrad in 1975. His beloved son, Keith Hazard Sheldrake was born in 1985 and preceded him in death in 2012 at age 27. Lee was in sales at Champion Ford in Edinboro for many years. Most recently he was an educator at the Bayfront Maritime Center in Erie where he taught boat building and sailing.
Lee enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Erie and spent time deep sea fishing off the Florida coast. He was an avid gardener and kept a well-stocked greenhouse. He was a history buff interested in naval history, especially the War of 1812, and was skilled in building boats and kayaks. He had many lifelong friends who he enjoyed spending time with.
Besides his son Keith, Lee was predeceased by his wife, Melanie; his sister, Laurie Showman; and his stepfather, Richard Davis. He is survived by his mother, Jean Davis of Edinboro; his half-sisters, Meg (Ron) Larson of Edinboro and Holly (Mike) Borland of Sewickley; his half-brothers, Jim (Kathy) Sheldrake of Rockford, IL and Sean Sheldrake of California; his brother-in-law, Gary Showman of Edinboro; and many nieces and nephews.
