Chester Stanley Dzeskewicz, Sr., 79, South Hill Road, McKean, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at home in the care of his family. He was born on the family farm in McKean, son of the late John and Katherine Skupinski Dzeskewicz.
He was a 50 year member of the Laborer’s Local #603 and a talented mason.
He was the last of five brothers, preceded in death by Joseph, John, Adam and Frank Dzeskewicz, along with three sisters, infant Mary Dzeskewicz, Anna Danylko, and Helen Wozniak.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Loretta Dzeskewicz, whom he married in 1958, three sons, Chester S. Dzeskewicz, Jr., wife JoAnne, daughter Jacqueline - Phoenixville, PA; Philip Dzeskewicz – McKean; Stephen Dzeskewicz, wife Michelle, children Aaron and Matti Rose – Waterford, PA and five daughters Deanna Dzeskewicz – Cranesville, PA
Lucy Lenhardt, husband Douglas, children Dustin, Brandon, Corey, Brooke and Jacob – McKean, PA; Catherine Malinchak, husband Thomas, daughters Sabrina and Mari – Chesterland, OH
Rose Harnois, husband Steven, sons Aidan, Elliot and Alexander – Willow Springs, NC
and Mari Orlop, husband Matthew, children Madelyn, Gabriel and Catherine – Cambridge Springs, PA.
He is survived by three sisters, Loretta Olszewski , Eleanor Fox and husband Richard, and Frances Dzeskewicz, all of McKean, dozens of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Chester loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He was well known for his hunting parties and hot dog stand in the woods, his homemade sauerkraut and his garden vegetables. He continued to work outside cutting firewood even after he lost most of his eyesight. He also enjoyed having his family together and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a lifelong resident of McKean where he attended McKean High School. He served his country and earned an honorable discharge from the armed forces in 1961. He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in McKean, a lifetime member of the St. Francis Ushers Club in McKean, and the Ft. LeBoeuf American Legion Post 285, Waterford, as well as the NRA. Friends may call at St. Francis Xavier Church, 8880 Main St, McKean, PA, 16426, on Tuesday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held there Thursday at 11:00 a.m.. Glunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of arrangements.
