Beata Ann Hawkins (nee Allen and Manfreda), 84, born April 2, 1931, passed away on Sunday, April 19 in Rancho Mirage, CA. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Reed Hawkins and Julia Matilda Hawkins.
She is survived by her two daughters, Julia Allen and Patrie Sardo, and her 3 grandsons, Michael Brown, Nicholas Sardo, and Justin Sardo. She was an aspiring actress in her younger days and a legal secretary in Erie, Cleveland, Chicago, and Los Angeles. She loved the desert (since 1992; Las Vegas and Palm Springs) and her 3 Shih-Tzus, Jazzy1, Jazzy2, and Pal. She was known for her liberal politics, bold language, and distinctive laugh. She had a zest for life and deep compassion for those less fortunate.
Beata’s ashes will be interned next to her parents at Edinboro Cemetery. The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of local arrangements.
