Barbara Nordberg

d. September 17, 2014

Barbara Lee (Johnston) Nordberg, 72, of Edinboro, died at home September 17, 2014, after a 3 year long courageous battle with cancer.  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Sherwood and Henrietta Johnston; and a son, Brian Scott Nordberg.  Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Karl, two sons; Kevin Brent Nordberg (Tammy) of Rockford, Illinois and Keith Alan Nordberg of Millcreek, PA, her sister Beverly Owen (Vic) of Thomasville, North Carolina and one grandson, Scott.
Barbara graduated from Turtle Creek High School in 1960, Edinboro University with a BS in Secondary English in 1964, and a Master's degree in Secondary English in 1966.  She taught mostly middle school students she loved in Titusville, Millcreek and General McLane and retired from teaching in 1986 when her eye sight failed.  She was a wonderful mother to her three boys. In her spare time she loved flower gardening around her home in the woods just outside Edinboro and was a prolific reader as evidenced by her large book collection and many loaned audio books from the Carnegie Library for the blind.  She also took great pride in decorating and maintaining her home.  Her favorite pastimes were meeting with her many friends every Monday and Friday morning at the Edinboro Bagel Shop, the once a month Lunch Bunch, and the Perkins group of General McLane retired ladies.
Barbara has requested that no funeral or memorial services be held. She was actually a very private person. Cremation arrangements will be handled by the Glunt Funeral and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro.  Memorial gifts may be made to the VNA Hospice Services of Erie County, 2253 West Grandview Blvd, Erie, PA 16506-4507.
