Arden Samuel Stafford, 91, of Draketown Road, Edinboro, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at home. He was born May 8, 1924 in Edinboro, the son of the late Eugene and S. Matilda Stafford.
As a child, Mr. Stafford attended the Ash School in Washington Township. He later became a farmer and went on to receive his Plow Handling Degree, or, as he called it, his PhD.
After retiring from dairy farming, he moved to McKean. He spent his retirement back on the farm helping his sons with field work and taking care of the cattle. He also enjoyed taking his grandchildren to various orchards and farms in the area to pick strawberries,blueberries, peaches and cherries, where his motto was “eat one, put one in the basket”.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Emmett and Edward M. Stafford, and his sister, Evelyn Boardman.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Stafford; sons Richard Stafford, of McKean, Gary Stafford (Susan), of Edinboro and Jeffrey Stafford (Cindy), of Edinboro; Rachel (John) Pyles, of West Chester, OH, Christina (Aaron) Stowers, of Washington, DC, Caryn (James) Wilkinson, of Crestview, FL, Andrew Stafford, of Edinboro, Lauren Stafford, of Pittsburgh, Jason Stafford, of Edinboro, Garry Stafford, of Edinboro and two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Lucas Pyles, of Westchester, OH.
Burial services will be private.
