Alvin C. Elegeer, 86, of Waterford, died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Edinboro Manor. He was born in Springboro, PA on February 18, 1924; son of the late Peter and Teresa Lindeman Elegeer.
Alvin was a life long dairy farmer and a former member of the Grange, St. Francis Ushers Club along with many other different farm organizations. Alvin was a caring and loving man who was always ready to help anyone. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially cherished spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Elegeer; his daughter Donna Sitler, brother Ambrose Elegeer and his sister Louise Kozinski.
Alvin is survived by; his son, Alvin E. Elegeer and his wife Melissa of Waterford; two daughters, Dorothy M. Roberts and her husband Edward of North East; Carol Richards and her husband Howard of Erie; six sisters, Luzella Porter of Erie; Velletta Randall of Erie; Eloise Ballard of Mercer, Lucile Rutkowski of Waterford; Geraldine Petrov and her husband Joseph, of Houston, TX and Viola Kaczmarek and her husband Richard of Fairview; also six beloved grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A service will be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Tom Brooks officiating.
Burial will be at Laural Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to any local fire department of their choice.
