Alice Mary Nellis, 78, of Edinboro, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Edinboro Manor. She was born in Erie, on April 1, 1937, the daughter of the late Frederick and Grace (Biebel) Nellis.
Alice graduated from McDowell High School in 1955. She loved to travel around the country, including visiting Hawaii and Alaska. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, all types of puzzles, and was an avid reader.
Alice worked as a sales associate at the Boston Store from 1955 until its closure, then working at Horn's Department Store, Sears, and Blair all in their sales departments.
She was a very devoted member of the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edinboro and served as a past president of the Alter Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Nellis.
Survivors include her two sisters, Agnes (Joseph) Gausman of Erie, and Grace (David) Stevens of Edinboro; three brothers, George Nellis of Erie, Raymond (Debbie) Nellis, of Erie and Lawrence Nellis of Edinboro; also, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her very much.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro, on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Daniel Hoffman officiating.
